Trash & Recycling Schedule
Trash Collection and Recycling are provided by the Town of Smithtown. Trash is collected on Mondays and Thursdays, Plastic/Glass and paper recycling on alternating Wednesdays. The Refuse and Recycling Calendar and additional information can be found on the Town of Smithtown website.
- Household trash must be placed in a trash can or in a heavy black bag or equivalent (black bags also come scented to repel rodents and birds).
- Under normal circumstances trash and recycling should not be placed outside before 6:00 PM on the night before collection and must be taken in by 10:00 PM. on the day of the pickup.
- Recyclables must be placed in a receptacle or in a recycling bag or if paper and cardboard waste secured so it is not blown around the community by the wind.
